What's been happening.....& In the Pipeline.....
Gumley Village Hall... Led two Mosaic family learning workshops in Gumley Village Hall over the summer, giving local parents the opportunity to come along and work with their children, designing and making a mosaic.
These workshops were funded by Harborough Borough Council as an initiative to encourage and test the market for family learning. The workshops were very successful in terms of attendance and the feedback from those involved and future workshops will be taking place there next year.
Also during November at Gumley Village Hall I led a Batik and Devoré workshop to a group of adults. The workshop gave participants the opportunity to learn and develop new skills in design, technique and application. The feedback was very positive and a Batik Portrait workshop is being planned for next year.

Rufford Craft Centre...nr Ollerton in Nottinghamshire offers educational days to many schools in Nottinghamshire and other surrounding counties and I'm pleased to have been selected as one of the artists who will be contracted to work on some of the projects there. Rufford Craft Centre offers the participants a unique experience outside of the usual learning environment and includes the creative learning centre, gallery, sculpture garden, park and restaurants. I'll be leading a series of silk-painting workshop to a young group of learners from the John Blow School in Newark, Nottinghamshire on Wednesday 17th March.

Cresswell Crags... There will also be educational workshops at this venue a little further north from Rufford: called Britain's oldest art gallery: a unique network of natural limestone gorges with rare archeological deposits from our ancient ancestors alongside an educational and visitor centre, museum, country park and wildlife reserve.

Isebrook School, Kettering, Northampton...Led a teacher training Batik workshop on Wednesday 13th January where I introduced them to discharge resist dyeing on black cotton using traditional tools.

Wrenn School, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire... I'll be leading a workshop with y9 students on Thursday 28th January following on from my exhibition there. Artists' exhibitions at the school are a good way to introduce new ideas and approaches to learners as well as providing an opportunity to the artists involved. I'll be teaching this select group how to combine printing and resist/discharge dyeing techniques on a variety of materials and encouraging them to work with spontaneity and challenging their perceptions about the mediums and the subject matter.

Thomas Estley School, Broughton Astley, Leicestershire... I'll be leading another Batik workshop here for the schools grant-aided Arts Award...date yet to be negotiated...I'm delighted to be working here again after running several workshops here including the Artists In Schools project in 2008

Lutterworth Embroiderers Guild...I'll be demonstrating resist-dyed and printed textiles and putting on a display of my own work at the Guilds Regional Day on Saturday 21st May 2011 at Lutterworth Grammar School and I'll be leading a Batik master class workshop for Guild members at Gumley Village Hall on Saturday 16th October
